La Jolla Cove Seals

After a friend’s graduation this weekend in San Diego, we wandered down to the beach. If you’ve never been to La Jolla Shores/Cove, you should. It’s absolutely beautiful there.

There’s this section along the beach called ‘Friends of the Seals’ where there’s a viewing platform and you can see several seals on each side.

The viewing area arches around the shore where most of them lay and bake in the sun and I wanted to get a nice photo of that arch. It was such a dynamic view, but it wasn’t as easy as I hoped to get a nice shot. This photo is tilted slightly and I think that adds to the dynamic effect of the overall photo.

Shot with my OM-D and Panasonic 14-45mm lens on f/6.3. I guess I could’ve gone to f/8 for deeper DOF.

Here’s a few extra shots of the seals for all the seal lovers!

  1. Great shots. Thats what I would like to be , fat and sprawled out on the beach without a care in the world. Thanks for that little mini mental vacation!
