Irvine Spectrum Ferris Wheel

After watching Iron Man 3 on Sunday, I decided to stop by Red Robin’s for a nice fat Royal Red Burger for dinner at the Irvine Spectrum.

I had my camera with me, just in case, and as I walked into the mall I got this view:

??????????????????????

It was a slightly long exposure so I got that nice effect of blurred people. I tried to get more shots like that with the people better framed, but there aren’t that many people at the Spectrum past 9PM.

I was using my Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 lens (this lens stays on my camera 90% of the time) and I think I had it stopped down slightly for slightly more DOF and sharpness. The settings gave me around a 1/2 second exposures/shutter speeds, but that was OK because the Olympus OM-D has fantastic image stabilization. Most of the shots came out decent, but are slightly blurry at 100% magnification. They shouldn’t be too bad for web viewing here.

I walked around the Ferris Wheel and tried multiple angles and views. Because I was using a 25mm micro-four-thirds lens (50mm effective focal length), I couldn’t get full view shot of the Ferris Wheel, but I actually like these tight shots of it too.

Please let me know what you think!

Irvine Spectrum Ferris Wheel Preview

Here’s a shot of the Ferris Wheel at the Irvine Spectrum. A few more shots to follow tomorrow.

??????????????????????

Photo taken with the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 at 1/2 second exposures, made possible by the OM-D‘s great 5-axis image stabilization. Slight blur at 100% magnification but not bad for web viewing. I did the slightly longer exposure so I could get all the lights on the wheel. The lights were moving and shorter exposures resulted in shots where only some of the lights were on. A longer exposure allowed all the lights to turn on at least once.

Thank you!

Zero Dark Thirty @ Irvine Spectrum

I decided to spend Friday watching Zero Dark Thirty (movie about catching and killing Osama, based on the book written by Navy Seal Team 6) with my brother. Headed to the Irvine Spectrum with my trusty OM-D. Took some photos of the Spectrum while I was there. Nothing fantastic, I think they show Irvine’s personality pretty well though. Enjoy!
